So do you shell them before you eat them? That's interesting, I read a couple of recipes that said you didn't have to, but they are a bit more difficult to eat that way!

Martissima, bisogna stare un po' attenti col forno perche' e' facile tostarli troppo. Se riprovi, fammelo sapere.

Fantastic research and tips, Simona! We love them here, too - and I also make them every year. They are a traditional treat from the former Yugoslavia, also - so I may get a taste! It is such a pleasure to see how excited Vanja gets when I make them. I will use the boiling tip in the future!

Ottimo modo per non buttare nulla della zucca. Siamo andati recentenente in uno di questi posti "zuccofili" americani. Molto carini davvero. Ps: se passi dalle mie parti vedrai il risultato del mio primo esperimento con il fornaggio. Solo ora vedo la tua ricchissina scheda dedicata alla caseificazione. Sara' di grandissimo aiuto!

Hi Valerie. They are difficult to resist. My father, for example, gets very proprietary about them and it's hard for him to share them. Here at home, I need to be careful about leaving them on the counter: they have a tendency to disappear.
