bellini valli

I am loving the mold you have used for the ricotta.I will ask about them at our local grocers.

Paz

I love the looks of this with the cat-shaped cookie.

Paz

Ivy

Oh I am so jealous each time you make your own cheese. I am sure this dolce di ricotta must taste heavenly. Love that beautiful ricotta mold!!

Moni

Foodycat

Oh yum! I've made a ricotta budino a couple of times, with very similar flavouring, but I really like the idea of the texture from the grains. Healthier too!

marcellina

Oooooh! How lovely! I have just learnt to make ricotta with whole milk not whey and this would be delicious! I'm going to have check out your method - I'm new to all this cheesemaking!

tasteofbeirut

That ricotta looks splendid! I would buy the entire thing just for looks! Love that whole wheat grain you got a hold of! There's a whole lot of things I could use it for!

Simona Carini

Ciao Astro.

Ciao Valli. I hope you can find a store that carries cheese-making supplies.

Ciao Paz. Indeed, that's a cute cookie cutter.

Ciao Ivy. I must admit, a day spent making cheese is very satisfactory. I must exercise patience with the hard cheese, but I get to enjoy the ricotta right away.

Grazie Moni.

Ciao Foodycat. Ricotta budino sounds interesting. Indeed, the oat groats provide variety to the texture. And yes, whole grains are good for us.

Ciao Marcellina. I have found that making cheese is very rewarding. I hope you'll enjoy your experience.

Hi Joumana and thanks. I must admit it's very satisfying to take out of the mold some lovely-looking ricotta. Indeed, whole grains are great in many dishes and they are very tasty.

Katie

How interesting and fun to get all those grains! It's something I have never seen here, although we do get quinoa (in the exotic foods section, along with pineapples and mangoes) I did find a source for fresh milk so I may dabble in cheese making - after my garden is in.... This looks delicious!

sra

Thanks to you, I know what CSA is. I love the pix of the moulded cheese and the cat cookie

Joanne

A grain CSA? I've never heard of that but I wish there were one here in NYC! I'm going to have to look into this. Sounds like a lot of fun.

This recipe looks delicious. Ricotta is one of my favorite things to include in dessert (or really in anything).

Simona Carini

Ciao Astro.

Ciao Katie and thanks. Good luck with the garden.

Hi Sra. CSAs are becoming more and more popular in the US.

Ciao Joanne. The one of which I am a member was the second grain CSA in California. I hope this type of CSA becomes available elsewhere. Let me know how your research goes. I also have a weakness for ricotta, since I was a child: it's so versatile!

Lori Lynn

The jumping groats gave me a good chuckle.
The cat cookie is adorable too!

Simona Carini

Glad to have brought a smile to your face, Lori Lynn.

andrea

Heide M.

Thanks for posting this recipe.

Simona Carini

You are welcome, Heide!

lucia

Granny Geek

Thank you for teaching me how to cook oat groats. I was not happy with my early efforts, but the ones I prepared using your technique are perfect.

Simona Carini

I am so glad to read that my instructions were useful! Thanks for letting me know.
